 IE doesn't like transparent PNGs
« Thread Started on Jan 28, 2007, 2:09pm »

>:( I was distraught to learn that the image format that I had been using for my transparent images wouldn't work in IE. Transparent PNGs work fine in Mozilla, but whenever I went to see if my website was cross browser compatible I was shocked to find that the only thing that appeared wrong was that my transparent images weren't compatible.

I couldn't just change these images to GIFs, which are cross browser compatible (when comparing Mozilla and IE) because my images are distorted.

Also, this happened whenever I didn't have IE7.

Hmm.... Never noticed it. Normally, transparent images are always taken in GIF format, because that is compatible with all browsers, so I've never tried using transparent PNGs.

I've tried many file types trying to find the right transparency, but I don't know why I settled on PNGs.

Because it actually keeps transparent pixels and keep smooth curves and such.

A way to make it blend better is to use a matte when you save it as a gif. That is if you're using Photoshop CS2.
